Hi Haleigh, how do you think about risk?
I believe risk is both emotionally and data driven. Identifying risks and their potential for loss and reward is a process that for me, requires deliberation and appreciation for the work and ambition that that will be integral to leveraging a positive outcome. For me, 2024, had both professional and personal risk investment. Professionally, this year, I committed to a business venture in a space where accessibility and social pressure have contributed to the aesthetic industry’s dilution- but with a patient-outcome oriented team, comprised of knowledgeable providers, it continues to have an incredible potential for growth. And personally, my husband and I of 10 years, mutually decided to end our marriage, in an effort to pursue different aspects of life that we felt as though we were not achieving together anymore.

Risk assessment can lead to sleepless nights, but what is inevitable of coming from them, is growth.

I entered the nursing field in 2011 by virtue of my parents ensuring that I prioritized job security after the ‘08 recession. As a new grad, I entered the Medical Intensive Care Unit where I spent almost 3 years. One night shift, on a 34 bed unit, we had 8 codes and deaths- one of them being my patient. The mental toll was becoming increasingly difficult to manage and that next morning, I applied to a plastic surgery practice and got the job. I had to grapple with losing the “nobility” of no longer working at the bedside, but I became the go-to clinic nurse that walked patients through their personal transformations.

Little did I know, I would be wearing my ICU hat again a couple of years later by flying to NYC during April, 2020 and working at Coney Island Hospital at the peak of COVID-19. I was a warm body, with an ICU skillset and patients and staff alike, needed help.

Now, I am proudly within the aesthetic space, going on 9 years. I have longevity with many patients, have had the opportunity to train new and seasoned injectors alike on dermal fillers and neuromodulators, and now I have the privilege of leading a team and growing a practice that has stood strong for almost 20 years.

The aesthetic industry is a rapidly growing space. Unfortunately, due to social media, the availability of non FDA approved products and with crash injection courses, the population is losing sight that this is still a focused facet of medicine. It’s imperative that patients seeking aesthetic treatments, receive them from someone who 1) put their patients first 2) has been properly educated and continues with the evolution of the space 3) understands how to manage complications 4) finds passion for their craft.

Saturday:
1) If we didn’t burn enough calories on the dance floor, we’d be starting at Barry’s Bootcamp in Venice. The best instructors and music live there.
2) Followed by brunch at Zinque. The closest we’ll get to French culture in LA, especially with Marc running the show.
3) Staying on the Westside, I would take a disco nap prior to hitting Mon Amie in Santa Monica. Tamer crowd and people that really enjoy the vibes of non mainstream electronic music- usually featuring talented, local, westside DJs.

Sunday:
1) If I’m not driving up to Malibu on a sunny day, then I’m hitting Dudley Wine Market and parking it from 2- close. The best raw and cooked fish from their signature fishing fleet, organic and funky wines and a token disco ball amidst the vinyl lined wall.

I love anywhere in LA where you can be yourself, curate your own good time and my second home could always be considered any dance floor.
